IPOH, Sept 27 (Bernama) -- Two former students of Politeknik Sultan Azlan Shah (PSAS) were honoured with posthumous awards at the 2026 Central Zone Polytechnic and Community College Convocation Ceremony at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) here today.
The graduates were Muhammad Farhan Misron @ Misni from the Electrical Engineering Department and Muhammad Ukasyah Fathi Nor Azrri from the Civil Engineering Department.
In a statement today, PSAS said the awards were given to honour the students' legacy, services and contributions during their studies at the institution.
Muhammad Farhan, who died from leukaemia and severe pneumonia complications, was active in robotics and technology, often bringing PSAS national and international recognition.
His top achievements included representing the Malaysia Polytechnic A PSAS team at the FIRA RoboWorld Cup and Summit 2023 in Wolfenbüttel, Germany, where he won first place in the HuroCup Spartan Race Kid category and second place in the HuroCup Kid Basketball category.
He continued his excellent run at the FIRA Malaysia Cup in 2023 and 2024, competing in various categories, including Kid Archery, Kid Basketball, Weightlifting and Marathon.
Apart from his academic and competitive achievements, Muhammad Farhan also actively contributed as a facilitator for a technology transfer programme with the local community and the Felda Sungai Behrang Digital Economy Centre (PEDi).
Meanwhile, Muhammad Ukasyah was remembered as a friendly, responsible and dedicated student during his tenure as a class representative.
He died in a road accident while on his way to attend a lecture at PSAS.
The posthumous awards were presented during the fourth session of the convocation and received by their family members as the institution's highest symbol of respect.
At the same ceremony, 897 PSAS graduates received their diplomas, presented by Proton Holdings Berhad deputy chief executive officer Datuk Abdul Rashid Musa and Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) chief executive Ahmad Farrin Mokhtar.
