KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 24 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP) has helped more than 3,000 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), including cooperatives, obtain halal certification for their products over the past five years.

Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong said the ministry will continue to strengthen the initiative through strategic partnerships with industry players to streamline and accelerate halal certification for local entrepreneurs.

“Collaboration with the Malaysia International Halal Academy (MyRS MIHA) through the KUSKOP Halal Sukses Programme aims to enhance halal competency and compliance with standards among entrepreneurs and cooperatives.

“I am confident that we can not only make it easier for our entrepreneurs to obtain halal certification, but also speed up the process to help their products achieve halal status,” he said.

He spoke to reporters after officiating the KUSKOP Pavilion at the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) 2026 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) here today.

Sim said KUSKOP has also partnered with Maxis Berhad through the Perkasa Halal Maxis eKelas Usahawan Programme, which focuses on improving digital literacy and online marketing among entrepreneurs.

In addition, the collaboration with Zull Design Autotronic through the Halal Entrepreneurship Development Programme focuses on automating and modernising production equipment for small and medium-sized entrepreneurs, particularly in the food and beverage sector.

He also proposed creating a ‘Malaysian Mall’ on international e-commerce platforms to enable Malaysian small and medium-sized enterprises, including halal businesses, to market their products overseas, including in China.

Meanwhile, Sim said KUSKOP is targeting at least RM60 million in potential sales and investment through the participation of 43 exhibitors under the KUSKOP Pavilion at MIHAS 2026, double last year's RM30 million target.

The pavilion features 36 MSMEs, five cooperatives, and two KUSKOP strategic partners, and it also launched six newly halal-certified products by MSMEs and cooperatives for domestic and international markets.

MIHAS 2026, taking place at MITEC from Sept 23 to 26, brings together industry players, entrepreneurs, buyers and investors from Malaysia and overseas to explore business opportunities and expand markets for halal products and services.
