230,000 NUTP Members To Enjoy Batik Air Ticket Discounts

KOTA BHARU, Sept 21 (Bernama) -- More than 230,000 members of the National Union of the Teaching Profession (NUTP) nationwide stand to enjoy discounted Batik Air Malaysia flight tickets through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed today.

NUTP president Aminuddin Awang said the initiative adds value for union members while also opening avenues to expand networking with the private sector.

“With a membership of 230,000, this actually creates opportunities to benefit our members while simultaneously benefiting our strategic partner,” he told reporters after the MoU signing ceremony between NUTP Malaysia and Batik Air Malaysia here today.

Earlier, Aminuddin and Batik Air Malaysia corporate sales manager Pravinderjeet Singh signed the document, which offers special flight rates to NUTP members.

Aminuddin expressed hope that this facility would attract more teachers to join the NUTP and pave the way for the union to explore further collaborations with the private sector in the future.

Meanwhile, special officer to Batik Air CEO, Seif Shaquille Shahril, said Batik Air is committed to strengthening its long-term relationship with NUTP through travel benefits that include corporate rates, specific discounts including for students—and complimentary (FOC) tickets, in accordance with the agreed terms.

“This initiative is seen as crucial given the challenging current economic climate, including the impact of the oil crisis, which has made travel costs a matter of concern,” he said.

He added that Batik Air currently operates a flight network to several international destinations, including Jeddah, China, and India, and offers both Business and Economy class cabin options.
