KUALA TERENGGANU, Sept 19 (Bernama) -- The Terengganu Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) has paid out RM10.9 million in benefits to 2,180 recipients from Jan 1 to July 31.
Its director Hisham Abdul Rahman said the payments covered various schemes, including temporary and permanent invalidity, dependants’, invalidity, survivors’ and funeral management benefits.
He said employers must ensure all workers were registered with Perkeso and that contributions were made to provide them with proper social security protection in the event of workplace incidents.
“Perkeso will carry out Ops Kesan nationwide and in Terengganu on Sept 22 to identify employers who have yet to register their businesses or make contributions for their workers.
“Employers who have yet to register are urged to come forward to ensure their workers receive social security protection, while workers should consider the benefits of such protection, especially as contributions are based on a minimum rate according to their salaries,” he said the 2026 Perkeso Media Engagement Programme here.
Earlier, 50 Perkeso staff members and media practitioners took part in a clean-up and beautification initiative at Surau Bandar Baru Pulau Kambing, followed by the distribution of food aid to two B40 families.
