JOHOR BAHRU, Sept 18 (Bernama) -- Environmental issues, particularly the haze currently affecting the country, highlight the importance of implementing long-term sustainability efforts, Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia said.
In a post on Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar’s official Facebook page today, Her Majesty said such efforts should be reflected in the government’s development policies, as well as through education to raise awareness among people from all walks of life.
The post stated that the remarks were made after Her Majesty received Johor Sustainability Centre (JSC) chairman Datuk Seri Utama Ir Hasni Mohammad at Istana Bukit Serene here today.
During the meeting, Her Majesty was briefed on the latest developments and planning regarding sustainability initiatives championed by JSC through collaborations with various public and private sector entities.
Also present were PUSPANITA Johor branch chairman Datin Siti Azizah Omar, JSC chief executive officer Syed Norul Shahril and Yayasan Raja Zarith Sofiah Negeri Johor chief executive officer Hishamuddin Abd Rahim.
