MANILA, Sept 18 (Bernama-Xinhua) -- At least six people were killed and 17 others injured in a school shooting in southern Philippines on Friday, according to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), reported Xinhua.
The DSWD said that its social workers are on the ground to provide psychological aid and support.
Earlier, local officials reported that all the victims killed in the shooting were minors aged between 14 and 17. According to the initial investigation, the 16-year-old suspect is believed to be among the fatalities after turning the gun on himself. The incident occurred at around 1 pm.
All classes were immediately suspended at all levels in the municipality of Banga, South Cotabato Province, where the incident happened, according to the local disaster risk reduction and management office.
The Department of Education expressed deep concern over the reported shooting incident.
