LABUAN, Sept 18 (Bernama) -- Three hardcore poor individuals in Labuan have each received a new home worth RM110,000 under a Federal Government housing assistance programme through the Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU) of the Prime Minister's Department.
The recipients, Rafa'al Gady, 37, and Salinah Jamal, 36, both from Kampung Lubok Temiang, and Masri Salim, 53, from Kampung Batu Manikar, received the keys to their new homes from Labuan Member of Parliament Datuk Dr Suhaili Abdul Rahman on Sept 15.
Suhaili said the recipients had applied for the assistance through his Labuan MP Service Centre.
“Following the checks and screening process, we found that they were eligible for the assistance and approved their applications,” he said to Bernama today.
He said the recipients previously did not own homes and had been renting, while one of them had been living for years in a dilapidated house without water and electricity supply.
Suhaili said each house took only about two months to complete, allowing the recipients to move into safer and more comfortable homes.
He said his office would continue to identify individuals and families in need of housing assistance, particularly those living in difficult conditions.
