KOTA KINABALU, Sept 17 (Bernama) -- A weak earthquake measuring 3.7 on the Richter scale was detected about 88 kilometres north of Sandakan, Sabah at 10.30 pm today.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), in a statement on Facebook, said the earthquake occurred at coordinates 6.6 degrees North and 118.3 degrees East.
It said the epicentre was about 354 kilometres south of Palawan, Philippines and 88 kilometres north of Sandakan, at a depth of 392 kilometres.
MetMalaysia said the earthquake posed no tsunami threat to Malaysia.
