IKIM, IIM Forge Strategic Cooperation To Strengthen Integrity Culture

KUALA LUMPUR,  Sept 15 (Bernama) — The Institute of Islamic Understanding Malaysia (IKIM) and the Malaysian Institute of Integrity (IIM) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen strategic cooperation in promoting a culture of integrity, ethics and good governance, as well as human capital development based on Islamic values.

The MoU was signed by IKIM Director-General Associate Professor Datuk Dr Mohamed Azam Mohamed Adil and IIM president and chief executive officer Datuk Seri Noridah Abdul Rahim, representing their respective institutions.

 The signing ceremony was witnessed by IKIM chairman Professor Emeritus Datuk Dr Mohd Yusof Othman and IIM board member Datuk Seri Mustafar Ali.

Speaking to reporters after the ceremony, Mohamed Azam said the inaugural collaboration between the two institutions was important in broadening the understanding and practice of integrity across the public and private sectors.

“In line with IKIM’s objective of fostering a true understanding of Islam, we view close cooperation with IIM as crucial to embedding a culture of integrity in both public and private sector workplaces.

“This is a historic occasion. Despite our close proximity, this is the first time an MoU has been signed between the two institutions,” he said.

Mohamed Azam said the collaboration would pave the way for various initiatives, including programmes, seminars and workshops, as well as book publications and social media content such as short videos to educate the public.

“We have already produced a book on integrity, which will be launched soon. We will also fully utilise IKIM’s media platforms, including Radio IKIM FM and TVIKIM, to disseminate messages on integrity and address issues of misconduct in society,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mohd Yusof said the integrity challenges facing society today could not be addressed solely through compliance and enforcement mechanisms, but also required the cultivation of human values, attitudes and character.

“IKIM brings strengths in Islamic thought, knowledge and civilisation, while IIM has expertise in fostering a culture of integrity and preventing corruption. This collaboration integrates system development with character building,” he said.
