Malaysians In Yemen Advised To Remain In Secure Locations Amid Recent Developments

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 15 (Bernama) -- Malaysians in Yemen, particularly in and around Mocha and Taiz, are advised to remain in a secure location following recent developments in the country.

In a consular notice, the Malaysian Embassy in Muscat advised Malaysians in affected areas to minimise unnecessary movement and avoid military installations, airports, ports, government facilities, checkpoints and other sensitive locations.

“Malaysians should follow all instructions issued by the local authorities and remain alert to changes in the security environment.

“As a standard precaution, Malaysians are also advised to keep their passports, important documents, mobile phones and essential medications readily accessible,” the embassy said.

Malaysians are also advised to avoid unnecessary long-distance travel at this time, particularly in areas where road and security conditions may be affected.

The embassy encouraged Malaysians to register and keep their details updated through the e-Konsular portal at https://ekonsular.kln.gov.my to facilitate communication and consular assistance.

Malaysians in Yemen are also encouraged to remain in contact with the embassy and keep their current location and contact details updated.

“Those who have not yet contacted the embassy are encouraged to do so as soon as practicable,” the notice read.

The embassy said it would continue to monitor developments, maintain contact with Malaysians in Yemen and coordinate with relevant authorities and partners to provide appropriate consular assistance where required.
