KERALAM (INDIA), Sept 14 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim held discussions with business leaders from the UAE-India Business Council, UAE Chapter (UIBC-UC) to explore opportunities for cooperation in investment, logistics, employment, and various other business sectors.

Among those he met were Sharaf Group vice chairman Major General Sharafuddin Sharaf and EFS Facilities Services Group co-founder and executive vice chairman Tariq Chauhan in Calicut during his working visit here today.

Anwar said discussions with Sharafuddin included Sharaf Group’s interest in leveraging Malaysia as a regional distribution hub for halal meat to overseas markets, building on the group’s cargo and logistics capabilities.

He also said Chauhan shared EFS Facilities Services Group’s plans for hiring, as well as opportunities for Malaysians to pursue employment in the facilities management sector.

The engagements provided an opportunity to explore new avenues for investment, logistics, employment and business collaboration, while strengthening Malaysia’s links with leading UAE-based companies and the wider UAE-India business community.

Malaysia also welcomed greater engagement with businesses from the UAE and India and would continue to facilitate partnerships that create tangible economic opportunities for Malaysians and local businesses.

The Prime Minsiter also highlighted potential cooperation with BEEAH Group, which has expanded from its environmental origins into a multi-sector organisation covering environment, energy, technology, healthcare and real estate.

The group, which operates a state-of-the-art recycling and material recovery facility in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, is looking to develop a sustainable waste-to-energy facility in Malaysia.

The UIBC-UC, established in 2023 under the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce & Industry, serves as a platform to promote trade, investment and business-to-business linkages between the UAE and India.

Its members are active in logistics, infrastructure, retail, healthcare, technology, clean energy and advanced manufacturing sectors, among others.
