KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 14 (Bernama) -- DSR Taiko Bhd plans to collaborate with the Pahang State Development Corporation (PKNP) to establish a verified origin standard and digitising export traceability for Musang King durians originating from Pahang.

The durian orchard manager said it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with PKNP to work together on setting up special purpose vehicles (SPVs) to develop and implement an authentication, certification and verification system for the state’s Musang King durians.

“The areas of collaboration under the MoU include origin authentication, labelling, traceability, certification, market development, as well as the development and promotion of ‘Pahang First’,” it said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia today.

DSR Taiko said the initiative would form part of the proposed Pahang Durian City (PDC), which is envisaged as a strategic research and development hub for Pahang's Musang King durian.

The detailed shareholding, governance, investment, intellectual property, commercial and operational arrangements of the SPVs would be mutually agreed upon by the parties at a later stage, the company said.

“The parties also intend to jointly engage relevant government agencies, statutory bodies, certification bodies, industry players and other stakeholders, where appropriate, in relation to the project,” it said.

The MoU will remain in force for six months from the date of the MoU, unless terminated earlier in accordance with its terms, DSR Taiko said, adding that the parties may apply to extend the MoU on mutually agreed terms by giving one month’s written notice before its expiry.

The company also said the MoU and its contents are not legally binding on the parties except for the confidentiality provisions, and neither party may make any claim against the other in the event of non-performance of its terms and conditions.

The MoU is not expected to have any material effect on DSR Taiko’s net assets per share, gearing and earnings per share for the financial year ending Sept 30, 2026.

None of the directors, major shareholders of DSR Taiko or persons connected with them have any direct or indirect interest in the MoU, it said.
