17 PMK Programmes To Be Held Throughout M'sia This Year - J-KOM DG

GOPENG, Sept 13 (Bernama) -- A total of 17 MADANI Kita (PMK) programmes will be held by the Community Communication Department (J-KOM) and the Prime Minister’s Department’s Performance Acceleration Coordination Unit (PACU) throughout the country this year.

J-KOM director-general Mohd Hisyamuddin Ghazali said the programme, which started on June 27, has been held in Chuah (Negeri Sembilan), Kota Raja (Selangor), Sepanggar (Sabah) and Simpang Pulai (Perak), and will be held next week in Bayan Baru (Pulau Pinang), Kuantan (Pahang) and Gopeng (Perak).

“The programmes this year are to answer the basic question of how far the public understands the government’s plans. PMK, which has also received the cooperation of other implementing agencies such as the Information Department and the National Unity Department, is a grassroots effort to bring public services and aid directly to the people,” he told reporters after attending the PMK with Simpang Pulai community @ Gopeng at Dewan Orang Ramai Rapat Setia here today.

Gopeng MP Tan Kar Hing, Perak Housing and Local Government Committee chairman Sandrea Ng Shy Ching and Simpang Pulai assemblyman Wong Chai Yi were also present at the event, which aims to attract about 2,000 visitors.

Meanwhile, Tan said PMK was a unique platform that makes the people as the main guest, which was an exception to normal official protocols.

“I also welcome the government’s move to provide full mandate to the MP and assemblyman to officiate and lead community programmes to strengthen local leadership ties with voters.

“The programme’s concept of going to the ground and listening to people’s complaints directly is in line with the Temu Rakyat programme carried out routinely in the Gopeng parliamentary constituency,” he said.
