MELAKA, Sept 12 (Bernama) -- The Kampung Angkat MADANI programme, under the Prime Minister’s initiative, goes beyond physical development, ensuring communities at the grassroots level feel the benefits of national growth, said Hang Tuah Jaya Member of Parliament Adam Adli Abd Halim.
Adam Adli, who is also Deputy Minister of Higher Education, said the federal government initiative enabled leaders and government agencies to focus more closely on local communities and translate policies into tangible outcomes for the people.
“This initiative, driven by the Implementation Coordination Unit of the Prime Minister’s Department (ICU-JPM), is not merely symbolic; it demonstrates that the federal government consistently listens to the concerns of people from all walks of life.
“We want all villagers and residents to have access to safe and comfortable facilities. Thus, the Kampung MADANI approach reflects the government’s commitment to addressing fundamental issues facing the people, whether involving dilapidated community facilities or basic amenities such as paved roads, street lighting and Internet access,” he said.
He told reporters this after closing the MADANI Village Adoption programme at the Arena Ara Permai Open Hall in Kampung Sungai Putat here today.
The event was also attended by Ayer Keroh Assemblyman Kerk Chee Yee and Melaka State Development Director (ICU JPM Melaka) Mohd Shahrul Shari.
Adam Adli said more than RM1 million had been spent through the Sungai Putat Kampung Angkat MADANI initiative on various development projects and facility upgrades for the local community.
He said the works included the construction of a hall, repairs to roads and drainage systems, installation of solar-powered lights, as well as repairs and upgrades to the community hall, mosque and mosque restrooms.
“These are ongoing efforts, and I hope they will build on the various developments previously carried out in Sungai Putat,” he said.
Meanwhile, Adam Adli said the Sungai Putat area was also benefiting from a flood mitigation project costing more than RM24 million, which had surpassed 50 per cent completion and was expected to be completed next year.
He said although the project was still under construction, its positive impact was already evident through a reduction in flooding incidents in the area.
“This means that although progress stands at 50 per cent, we are already beginning to see the benefits. We pray that the project will not face delays and that the mitigation measures will prove effective, benefiting not only Kampung Sungai Putat but also the surrounding areas,” he said.
