SEMPORNA, Sept 10 (Bernama) -- The Women, Family and Community Development Ministry (KPWKM) is ready to offer counselling support to the families of victims of the helicopter crash in Long Lellang, Ulu Baram, Sarawak.

Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said her ministry is always ready to assist, but the families should first be given time to come to terms with the incident.

“As usual, we are fully prepared to provide counselling support, but counsellors themselves need to be prepared because this is not an easy matter.

“This involves lives and families who are deeply distressed and grieving, so the counsellors must be people who genuinely understand their situation,” she said.

She spoke to reporters after officiating the Semporna Zero Tolerance for Violence Programme: Anti-Sexual Harassment Advocacy (AAGS) and End Violence Against Women (EVAW) campaign here today.

On Tuesday, a BO-105 helicopter carrying four Health Ministry (MOH) personnel and a pilot crashed and caught fire near the Short Take-off and Landing (STOL) airstrip, killing all five on board during a Flying Doctor Service (FDS) flight to remote areas.
