TH RCI: UMNO Has No Objection To Cooperating With MACC - Ahmad Zahid

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 10 (Bernama) -- UMNO has no objection to cooperating with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in prosecuting any of its senior leaders if there is evidence linking them to issues concerning Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH), said its president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

He said, however, that he had not received any official information on the detention of any senior party leader in connection with the matter.

“...but our position is that if there is strong evidence to support prosecution, we have no objection to cooperating with the MACC in carrying out the prosecution.

“However, any prosecution would first have to be preceded by an investigation, which must be conducted fairly and transparently,” he told a press conference after launching the book 13 Propaganda Perang Sun Tzu in conjunction with the 2026 UMNO General Assembly here today.

It was reported that another senior UMNO leader is expected to be called in by the MACC next week to assist in investigations into a case related to the TH Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report.

According to sources, the leader, who holds an important position in UMNO, had been given ‘time’ to attend to matters related to the general assembly, which runs from Sept 9 to 12.

Yesterday, former TH chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim, who is also an UMNO Supreme Council member, was among three individuals brought to court to face legal action and remanded to assist in investigations into a case related to the TH RCI report.
