KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 10 (Bernama) -- National karate junior exponent Ivy Olivera Donny punched her way to the female under 21 (U21) individual kata gold medal at the 24th Asian Cadet, Junior & U-21 Championships 2026 in Amman, Jordan, Wednesday.
The 20-year-old Sabahan put up a dominant performance in the final, defeating Iran’s Ailin Baharijavadhesari 4-1 to clinch the gold medal on the second day of the competition held in Prince Hamzah Hall.
Meanwhile, another national karate junior exponent, Muhammad Arif Hafizi Hishamadi’s hope to clinch gold was dashed when he lost in the male U21 individual kata final.
The 20-year-old Ipoh athlete was beaten 5-0 by United Arab Emirates’ Rami Fawzi Abu in the final.
On Tuesday, Nur Aneesa Aira Mohamad Affendi bagged Malaysia’s first gold in the female junior individual kata event by defeating Chen Po-Jen of Taiwan, 4-1.
The championship, which began on Sept 8, ends tomorrow.
