Sabah State-level Malaysia Day Celebration Set For Sept 16

KOTA KINABALU, Sept 9 (Bernama) -- The Sabah state-level 63rd Malaysia Day Celebration 2026 will take place at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) here on Sept 16, commencing at 8.00 pm.

The celebration’s Main Committee chairman, Datuk Jafry Ariffin, said the finalised programme and preparation details were presented during a courtesy call on Yang Dipertua Negeri Sabah, Tun Musa Haji Aman, at Istana Seri Kinabalu today.

Jafry, who is also Sabah Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Environment, emphasised that the celebration is far more than an annual event.

It is an important platform for Malaysians to reflect on the nation's history, while fostering unity, patriotism and a shared sense of togetherness.

"Sabah holds a very important place in the history of Malaysia's formation. This celebration should allow us to remember the struggles of earlier generations while renewing our resolve to continue building a peaceful, progressive and united nation," he said in a statement today.

He expressed his deepest appreciation to Tun Musa for receiving the committee delegation and for offering invaluable guidance, advice and insights to ensure a smooth and meaningful event.

Jafry said preparations for the state-level celebration are being actively coordinated through multi-agency collaboration involving all relevant ministries, government departments and public agencies.

He also called upon all Sabahans to come together and liven up the 63rd Malaysia Day Celebration as an expression of their shared love for the state and nation, in keeping with the spirit of Malaysia MADANI and the Sabah Maju Jaya vision.
