Cabinet Extends Condolences To Families Of FDS Helicopter Crash Victims

PUTRAJAYA, Sept 9 (Bernama) -- The Cabinet today extended its condolences to the families of the people killed in the Flying Doctor Service (FDS) helicopter crash in Long Lellang, Sarawak, yesterday.

MADANI Government spokesman Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil, who is also Communications Minister, said the Cabinet members were also informed that investigations into the crash were being conducted by the Air Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB).

“At today’s Cabinet meeting, the Prime Minister and the Cabinet members conveyed their condolences to the families of the five victims of the FDS helicopter crash in Long Lellang, Sarawak, yesterday.

“We (the Cabinet) were also informed that the investigation process is underway and being conducted by the AAIB, and the findings will be presented to the Cabinet in due course,” he said at his weekly press conference here today.

Fahmi said the cause of the incident was not yet known and that the five victims had been identified, with their next-of-kin informed of the incident.

Yesterday, the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) said that a BO-105 helicopter carrying five individuals, including the pilot, crashed near the Long Lellang Short Runway Airport (STOLport), Ulu Baram, about 929 kilometres from Kuching, Sarawak.

The CAAM received information about the incident involving the helicopter from the Flight Information Service at 3.58 pm.
