27 Top STPM 2025 Students Receive Bachelor's Degree Tuition Fee Sponsorship

PUTRAJAYA, Sept 7 (Bernama) -- A total of 27 top-performing Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) 2025 students from 18 public universities have received sponsorship in the form of tuition fees to pursue bachelor’s degree studies.

The initiative, implemented by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) and the Malaysian Examinations Council (MPM), aims to ensure that academic excellence is continued at the higher education level while providing young talents in the country with opportunities to build a better future.

Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir said the sponsorship was provided in recognition of the students’ outstanding achievements in the STPM 2025 examination, as well as the government’s efforts to support their potential to continue succeeding in their respective fields.

He said the sponsorship covered various fields of study, including critical fields such as medicine, engineering and education.

“At MOHE level, we selected the best students from across the country who achieved the best results at STPM level and awarded them full scholarships, meaning tuition-free education.

“This involves various fields, including critical fields such as medicine, engineering, education and others,” he told the media after the presentation of sponsorship letters for tuition fees to STPM MPM students here today.

Zambry said the recognition was also given regardless of racial background, in line with the government’s efforts to ensure that students who achieve academic excellence are given opportunities to pursue their studies at local higher education institutions.

“I could see their happiness and their parents'. I am proud of their achievements, which involve all races. Those who achieve outstanding results are given recognition and can continue their studies at our local universities,” he said.

He said the sponsorship was provided because the government believed that the recipients had the potential to continue excelling and contribute to the country’s development in the future.

In a separate statement, MPM chairman, who is also Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris vice-chancellor, Prof Datuk Dr Md Amin Md Taff, said the tuition fee sponsorship was a form of trust in the potential of outstanding young people.

He said the sponsorship was not merely assistance, but an investment in knowledge, talent and, most importantly, the country’s future.

“MPM remains committed to ensuring that the STPM is implemented with high assessment standards, integrity and credibility.

“In line with the global education landscape, MPM will continue to strengthen research, psychometrics, assessment innovation, digitalisation and international strategic networks to enhance the competitiveness, credibility and comparability of the STPM within the global higher education ecosystem,” he said.
