US Embassy Denial: PKR Youth Urges Probe Into Abdul Hadi's Conspiracy Claim

LUMUT, Sept 6 (Bernama) -- PKR Youth (AMK) has urged the authorities to investigate PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang’s allegation that representatives of the United States Embassy had previously offered his party assistance in an effort to topple the government, following the embassy’s denial of the matter.

AMK chief Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim said the statement made by the PAS president was very serious as it touched on an alleged attempt at a conspiracy involving a foreign power to bring down the government.

“(Abdul Hadi’s) the statement is a serious one. It appears that there was an attempt at a conspiracy between an external power and a local entity to undermine the parliamentary democratic system. Therefore, this is something that is contrary to the Federal Constitution.

“Since the US Embassy has issued a denial, we want the authorities to launch an investigation and determine whether the allegation made is true or otherwise. If it is true, firm and immediate action must be taken,” he said.

He said this when met after officiating the National Khatam Keris Traditional Ceremony organised by the Perak branch of the Persatuan Silat Seni Gayong Malaysia and the Silat Anak-Anak Gayong Perak Gathering at Teluk Batik Campsite here today.

US Embassy Chargé d’Affaires David H. Gamble Jr., in a statement posted on the official Facebook page of the US Embassy in Kuala Lumpur today, said the US had never sought to determine Malaysia’s political leadership and described any statement to the contrary as false.

Yesterday, Abdul Hadi, in his speech at the 72nd PAS Annual Muktamar in Kota Bharu claimed that the US had previously offered assistance to the party to topple and take over the government when Barisan Nasional was governing the country.
