KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 5 (Bernama) -- Six areas in Sarawak recorded Air Pollutant Index (API) readings at the very unhealthy level as of 4 pm today, with Kuching recording the highest reading of 264.
Based on data from the Malaysian Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS), the other five areas in Sarawak with very unhealthy readings were Serian District Police Headquarters (259), Sri Aman (240), Samarahan (220), Bintulu (210) and Samalaju (207).
Meanwhile, 25 stations nationwide recorded unhealthy API readings, including seven in Sarawak, namely the Miri Industrial Training Institute (ILP) (191), Mukah (188), Miri (183), Sarikei (180), Sibu (175), Limbang (162) and Kapit (152).
In Sabah, unhealthy readings were recorded in Kimanis (170), Kota Kinabalu (157) and Kota Kinabalu Polytechnic (156), while Labuan recorded a reading of 169.
Johor also recorded unhealthy API readings in Batu Pahat (157), Tangkak (157), Segamat (156), Kluang (155) and Larkin (153), as did Bukit Rambai (158), Alor Gajah (154) and Bandaraya Melaka (103) in Melaka.
In Negeri Sembilan, the affected areas were Nilai (156), Seremban (154) and Port Dickson (105), while in Selangor, they were Johan Setia (158) and Putrajaya (147). Balok Baru Kuantan in Pahang recorded a reading of 144.
Meanwhile, 27 stations recorded moderate API readings, while 10 stations recorded readings at the good level.
An API reading of zero to 50 indicates good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, while readings above 300 are hazardous.
