Perlis Raja Muda Meets Malaysian Contingent At Pickleball World Cup In Da Nang

DA NANG, Sept 5 (Bernama) -- The Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, graciously attended the ongoing Pickleball World Cup 2026 tournament here.

The Raja Muda and Raja Puan Muda of Perlis Tuanku Dr. Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil were received by the director of the Malaysian Pickleball Team, Ibrahim Gul.

Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra graciously took the time to meet and mingle with the national athletes, led by world champion Jimmy Liong Kai Long, as well as the contingent officials.

The Raja Muda's presence reflects support for the development of pickleball in Malaysia, particularly the efforts of local athletes who are now competing on the international stage.

Also in attendance were the royal couple's daughters Hajah Sharifah Khatreena Nuraniah Jamalullail and Hajah Sharifah Farah Adriana Jamalullail, accompanied by a delegation from Universiti Malaysia Perlis' (UniMAP). International Leadership Mobility (ILM) programme.

Meanwhile, Ibrahim said the participation of the national contingent in the tournament involved players from all over the country who underwent preparations for the tournament through a special training camp in Kuala Lumpur.

He said that continuous support from stakeholders is crucial to ensure that national players have better opportunities to undergo training and of participating in international tournaments.

"At this tournament, representatives from the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) were also present to witness the participation and performance of the teams here. We hope there will be good news regarding the form of support that can be provided to the team in the future," he also said.

The  Pickleball World Cup 2026, which began on Aug 30, ends tomorrow (Sept 6). It has involved the participation of nearly 5,000 athletes from 78 countries and regions.
