KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 4 (Bernama) -- Malaysia will have two men’s doubles pairs in the last four of the 2026 China Masters Badminton Championships after Tee Kai Wun-Yap Roy King and Nur Mohd Azriyn Ayub-Tan Wee Kiong cleared their quarter-final hurdles today.
Both pairs were taken to the distance by their opponents at the Shenzhen Arena in Shenzeng, Guangdong, with Kai Wun-Roy King taking 56 minutes to overcome Japan’s Takumi Nomura-Yuichi Shimogami 21-13, 19-21, 21-12; and Nur Mohd Azriyn-Wee Kiong needing 58 minutes to produce a stunning 21-17, 16-21, 21-19 upset over sixth-seeded Sabar Karyaman Gutama-Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani of Indonesia.
Kai Wun-Roy King will face He Ji Ting-Ren Xiang Yu for a place in the final after the Chinese pair defeated Malaysia’s Soh Wooi Yik-Aaron Tai 21-16, 17-21, 21-16 in the other quarter-final match.
Nur Mohd Azriyn-Wee Kiong will have to raise their game again in tomorrow’s semi-final as they will be up against fourth-seeded Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty of India.
The Indian pair had earlier slogged for 70 minutes before ousting Denmark’s Kim Astrup-Anders Skaarup Rasmussen 21-13, 16-21, 21-18 in their quarter-final clash.
