COLOMBO, Sept 4 (Bernama-Xinhua) -- Namal Rajapaksa, the eldest son of former Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa, was arrested on Friday over an alleged bribery incident involving the purchase of wide-body aircraft for SriLankan Airlines, the country’s bribery investigation body said, reported Xinhua.
Namal Rajapaksa appeared before the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption to provide a statement after being summoned for questioning, local media reported.
He was taken into custody after several hours before the commission.
Investigations into the alleged aircraft transaction are continuing.
