KATHMANDU, Sept 4 (Bernama-Xinhua) -- The death toll from the devastating mudslide in Nepal rose to 1,287, with 5,083 people still missing as of 12.30 pm local time on Friday, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, reported Xinhua.
A preliminary assessment showed that 7,570 private houses and 48 government structures had been damaged.
Eighteen schools were affected, including 11 that were destroyed and seven that were partially damaged, while seven health institutions were also affected.
In addition, 55 kilometres of roads were completely damaged, along with 37 motorable bridges that were rendered unusable.
