KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 4 (Bernama) -- SkyGate NHJ Technology Sdn Bhd has inaugurated its new manufacturing facility in the Perai Free Industrial Zone, Penang, expanding its technology-driven precision engineering presence in Malaysia.
Established on July 14, 2025, SkyGate NHJ Technology is a joint venture between a subsidiary of Penang-based SkyGate Solutions Bhd and Singapore-based New Jin Hai Pte Ltd.
The partnership combines SkyGate Solutions’ local presence and network with New Jin Hai’s over three decades of experience in precision engineering.
The facility occupies 36,000 square feet of manufacturing space and is designed to support digitalised computer numerical control (CNC) manufacturing, automation and advanced machining capabilities.
The facility is equipped with advanced horizontal and five-axis CNC machining technologies to enhance manufacturing precision, productivity and efficiency.
"SkyGate NHJ Technology’s partnerships could create opportunities beyond investment in manufacturing capacity, including technology transfer, localisation and the development of new capabilities within Penang's local ecosystem.
"Precision manufacturing capabilities, serving sectors ranging from semiconductors and electronics to medical, optical and aerospace, position the company well to contribute to this wider high-technology ecosystem," said Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.
Penang is home to over 30 automated test equipment (ATE) companies, supported by over 80 ecosystem partners across automation, precision engineering and semiconductor manufacturing.
Meanwhile, Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid said the company's investment reflects the kind of collaboration Malaysia seeks to attract, one that brings together local participation with international expertise, technology and know-how.
"Beyond the investment itself, their partnership will strengthen local capabilities, nurture engineering talent and advance Malaysia’s aspiration under the New Industrial Master Plan (NIMP) 2030 to move towards higher-value and more technology-intensive manufacturing," he said.
At the same time, SkyGate NHJ Technology CEO Li Jian said the company aims to create high-skilled employment opportunities, strengthen collaboration across the upstream and downstream supply chains, and contribute to Penang’s manufacturing sector towards greater precision, efficiency, digitalisation, and intelligent manufacturing.
