KOTA BHARU, Sept 4 (Bernama) -- The MUSE Enduro 2026 programme has the potential to emerge as a key recreational sports and ecotourism product in Gua Musang, showcasing its unique terrain, rich biodiversity and local community heritage.

Exploration Motor Sports Club (ELS) chairman Mohd Haizul Omar said the programme would not only offer an exciting enduro riding experience for extreme motor sports enthusiasts, but also create economic opportunities for the local community.

He said well-organised motoring and adventure activities could stimulate economic activity among local residents by creating demand for food, accommodation, support services and other tourism-related services.

“We want this programme to grow and bring benefits to everyone. While enduro enthusiasts get to enjoy the sport they love, we also want their participation to benefit the local community and economy,” he told Bernama recently.

Mohd Haizul said the programme could also give participants an opportunity to experience Gua Musang’s unique landscape and Orang Asli communities, while encouraging greater respect for the local community and appreciation of the environment.

The three-day MUSE Enduro 2026 programme, held from Aug 28 to 30, offered participants more than just challenging rides through the interior of Gua Musang, with opportunities to meet Orang Asli communities and take part in cultural activities.

The programme, organised by the Kelantan State Youth and Sports Department in collaboration with ELS, the ST Rally Club and Holeshot Motowear, also drew participants from Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore, as well as riders from across Malaysia, putting Gua Musang in the spotlight as an emerging adventure sports and ecotourism destination.

Mohd Haizul said the approach of combining motorsports with tourism, volunteering, community development and social responsibility was in line with ELS’ aim of making MUSE Enduro an annual programme.

He said ELS also planned to expand collaboration with government agencies, the private sector and other stakeholders to ensure future editions bring greater benefits to local communities and surrounding areas.
