GEORGE TOWN, Sept 3 (Bernama) -- The Penang government has allocated more than RM328,000 since 2022 to recognise and support young talents who have excelled at national and international levels through the BEST! Anak Penang Young Talent Excellence Incentive Scheme (SIKBMPP).

State Youth, Sports and Health Committee chairman Daniel Gooi Zi Sen said a total of RM328,614.34 had been channelled to 1,107 youths between 2022 and 2025.

“Entering its fifth year, the scheme continues to serve as an important platform for the state government, through the Penang Youth Development Corporation (PYDC) as its secretariat, to encourage and recognise local young talents.

“This is not merely a financial incentive, but also recognition of the hard work of young people who have brought honour to Penang through achievements in various academic and co-curricular competitions,” he said.

He said this at the launch of the 2026 SIKBMPP - BEST! Anak Penang programme at Komtar here today.

Gooi said applications for the 2026 scheme are open from today until Sept 30 to Penang youths aged between 15 and 30.

Individual recipients are eligible for incentives ranging from RM300 to RM800, while group recipients may receive between RM500 and RM3,000, depending on the criteria and level of achievement.
