Germany Supplies Nepal With Relief Supplies Following Flash Floods

03/09/2026 11:02 AM

BERLIN, Sept 3 (Bernama-dpa) -- Germany is to provide relief supplies to Nepal following the devastating flash floods, reported German news agency dpa.

"We are in a position to help, and indeed we will be delivering aid immediately," a Foreign Ministry spokesman said on Wednesday.

He added that the aid would include "tarpaulins, water filters, mosquito nets, and contributions to ensure that people in the disaster-stricken region can once again access clean drinking water, that they can be provided with temporary accommodation, and other measures."

The supplies will be provided via the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, an international initiative through which countries can turn to the European Union. The EU member states each determine who can provide what.

The flash floods in the Himalayas left many dead and missing in Nepal and China. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has warned of the risk of diseases spreading.
