Hazardous Air Recorded At Serian IPD In Sarawak This Morning

KUALA LUMPUR,  Sept 3 (Bernama) -- The monitoring station at the Serian District Police Headquarters (IPD) in Sarawak recorded an Air Pollutant Index (API) reading of 345 as of 9.30 am today, placing it in the hazardous category.

Checks on the Department of Environment’s (DOE) Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) website showed that four other areas in Sarawak recorded “very unhealthy” API readings, namely Sri Aman (294), Kuching (273), Samarahan (255) and Sarikei (223).

Meanwhile, 15 locations - eight in Sarawak, five in Sabah, and one each in Labuan and Negeri Sembilan - recorded “unhealthy” readings.

The locations in Sarawak were Sibu (188), Bintulu (175), Kapit (174), Mukah (171), Samalaju (167), Limbang (155), ILP Miri (153) and Miri (125).

In Sabah, unhealthy readings were recorded at Kota Kinabalu Polytechnic (165), Kimanis (164), Keningau (164) and Kota Kinabalu (163). Labuan recorded a reading of 160, while Nilai in Negeri Sembilan registered 110.

Nationwide, 45 areas recorded “moderate” API readings, while three areas recorded “good” readings.
