KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 2 (Bernama) -- Macao Special Administrative Region Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai will undertake a four-day working visit to Malaysia from Wednesday to Sept 5.
The Foreign Ministry, in a statement on Wednesday, said that during the visit, Sam is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
“Both sides are expected to exchange views on Malaysia-Macao bilateral relations under the framework of One Country, Two Systems, as well as review current developments in bilateral cooperation and discuss the direction of cooperation, particularly in trade and economic affairs, tourism and culture, and people-to-people ties,” the statement said.
This will be Sam’s first visit to Malaysia since assuming office as Macao’s fourth chief executive in 2024.
He will be accompanied by his partner, Wong He Peng, Secretary for Economy and Finance Ng Wai Han, senior government officials, as well as representatives from various sectors, including the economy, trade, education, tourism and culture.
In 2025, total trade between Malaysia and Macao was valued at RM367.7 million (US$85.8 million), an increase of 73.6 per cent compared with 2024.
