Six Areas In Sabah Record Unhealthy API Readings, KK Polytechnic Highest At 185

KOTA KINABALU, Sept 2 (Bernama) -- Six areas in Sabah recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 8 am today, with the Kota Kinabalu Polytechnic station recording the highest reading at 185.

According to the Sabah State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) daily El Nino Monitoring infographic report, Kota Kinabalu recorded an API reading of 179, followed by Kimanis at 175, Keningau at 173, Sandakan at 152 and Tawau at 123.

The report stated that API readings between 101 and 200 are categorised as unhealthy, with the public advised to reduce outdoor activities, while children, senior citizens and those with chronic illnesses are advised to avoid outdoor activities.

The report also recorded six fire incidents in the 24-hour period up to 8 am today, comprising five bush or grass fires and one farm or plantation fire, while no forest, peatland or rubbish fires were reported.

Monitoring of rivers showed that Sungai Moyong in Penampang and Sungai Kalabakan in Tawau were both at normal levels.
