BANGKOK, Sept 1 (Bernama) -- Thailand-based natural ingredients manufacturer, Specialty Natural Products Public Company Ltd (SNPS), is open to co-developing products with Malaysian partners to leverage Malaysia’s halal certification as a strategic launchpad into Middle Eastern markets.
Malaysia’s halal certifications are developed by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM).
SNPS’s head of international division, Laure Desforges, said the company is keen to collaborate on product formulations and share technical expertise with partners across the region.
"This is something we really like to do, sharing knowledge on how we get these halal certificates, because we know that it is a big challenge for our industry right now. If there is any opportunity to collaborate on that part, we would be very happy to discuss," she told a press conference during a media visit to SNPS here today.
Currently, more than 98 per cent of the company's ingredient portfolio and products are halal-certified for the Malaysian, Thai, and Indonesian markets.
SNPS is one of the manufacturers that standardised Thai botanical herbal extract for the world’s pharmaceutical, dietary supplement, nutraceutical, functional food, and cosmetic industries, while providing innovative semi-formulations to cosmetics manufacturers.
Desforges said the company is planning to expand its network of partner farmers in Thailand from the current 250 to 1,500 over the next five years. Acknowledging the challenges of scaling up the agricultural network, she said the company must thoroughly assess soil quality, manage relationships, and ensure strict adherence to farming procedures before accepting new farmers.
"So, we just set up a new team a few years ago, because we already knew that it was going to be our vision and our focus. The team will be located in the different regions of Thailand, so that they can train the new farmers and households," she added.
SNPS and its subsidiary Specialty Innovation Co., Ltd. (SI) hosted journalists from Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam and Thailand at their Thai manufacturing site here.
The visit was arranged by Informa Markets alongside Vitafoods Asia 2026, held from Sept 2-4, 2026 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok.
