BUDI95 Quota Increase To 300 Litres Eases People’s Burden, Boosts Domestic Tourism

MELAKA, Sept 1 (Bernama) -- The increase in the BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) quota from 200 litres to 300 litres per month, effective today, will not only help ease the people’s burden but also boost the domestic tourism sector.

Factory worker Johari Ibrahim, 44, from Klang, Selangor, said the restoration of the quota to 300 litres was timely, especially during the school holidays, as most parents would take the opportunity to bring their children on holiday or return to their hometowns.

“This school holiday, my family and I are travelling to Melaka as there are many interesting programmes, including the National Day celebrations, as well as many tourist attractions on our list to visit.

“Alhamdulillah, it is good news as it will help reduce our petrol expenses. With the quota restored to its original level, we can visit more places,” said Johari, who chose to spend three days in Melaka with his wife and two children, aged 10 and 12, during this month’s school holidays.

Meanwhile, private-sector employee Rohani Senin, 37, from Batu Pahat, Johor, said the restoration of the BUDI95 quota would help her plan a holiday trip to Melaka while making the most of her children’s school holidays by visiting interesting and historical places in the state.

“Initially, I had not planned to take my children on a holiday, but when the Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) announced that the BUDI95 quota had been increased, I immediately thought about taking a holiday in Melaka.

“Melaka was my choice because it is the nearest state and, of course, the petrol expenses would be lower compared with travelling to other states,” said the single mother of five sons aged between seven and 16.

She said the 100-litre increase in the BUDI95 quota would make a significant difference, as without the subsidy, her family’s daily expenses would be somewhat burdensome, and going on holiday would not be a priority.

Rozita Ismail, 44, from Klebang here, said the increase in the petrol subsidy quota was welcome news that she had been looking forward to, as she would send her three children back to their hometown in Rantau Panjang, Kelantan, during every long school holiday.

“Alhamdulillah, I feel relieved because the journey back to my hometown is quite far and would certainly require a considerable amount for petrol, not to mention other expenses,” said Rozita, who will be making the trip tomorrow.

Meanwhile, private-sector employee Johardy Haron, 28, who lives in Ayer Keroh here and works in Kuala Lumpur, said the increase in the quota meant a great deal to him as he has to allocate a substantial amount for travelling between the two states to make a living.

“Every month, I spend more than RM600 on petrol just commuting to and from work… I really depend on the BUDI95 subsidy; otherwise, my cost of living would be even higher,” he said.

On Sunday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that the BUDI95 quota would be increased from 200 litres to 300 litres per month effective today, benefiting more than 16 million users.
