KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 1 (Bernama) -- The Road Transport Department of Malaysia (JPJ) has teamed up with MONSTA to deliver road safety messages through creative animation and digital content that resonates with the public.

Fifi, JPJ's official mascot, made her debut appearance at the National Day parade alongside Mechamato, the popular animated character produced by MONSTA.

The special appearance officially introduced Fifi to the public while carrying the spirit of patriotism and Malaysia's aspiration to build a safer and more progressive future.

In a statement today, JPJ said the decision to launch Fifi at the Merdeka celebration reflects the department's goal of introducing a new local character that is relatable to youth, while honouring national identity, unity and patriotic spirit.

"Fifi's appearance alongside Mechamato symbolises the continuity of creativity and local animation intellectual property, bridging beloved characters with a new generation to deliver positive and inspiring messages to Malaysians.

"Using animated characters and digital content allows road safety messages to be delivered in a way that is more easily understood, engaging and relatable to the public," the statement read.

The statement added that the strategic collaboration with MONSTA is part of JPJ's efforts to expand its communication approach through mediums that are more relevant to current developments.

MONSTA, meanwhile, described the partnership as an opportunity to leverage the strengths of local animation in supporting road safety education and campaign initiatives.

In the same statement, MONSTA said animated characters can convey positive values in a manner that resonates closely with audiences.

"Through the pairing of Fifi and Mechamato, we hope road safety messages can be delivered creatively while evoking a sense of patriotism and confidence in Malaysia's future," the statement read.

The collaboration also paves the way for animated and digital content that blends educational, entertainment, and social values, in line with JPJ and MONSTA's shared commitment to delivering road safety messages through a more creative and relevant approach.

Inspired by the spirit of Merdeka, JPJ and MONSTA remain dedicated to harnessing the power of local animation and creativity to deliver road safety messages to the public.
