KUALA NERUS, Aug 31 (Bernama) -- The government, through the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN), has spent RM65.6 million in subsidies to finance the organisation of 956 sessions of the MADANI Rahmah Sales Programme (PJRM) in Terengganu this year from Jan 1 to today (Aug 31).

Terengganu KPDN director Mohd Mufsi Lat said that 1.2 million people in the state have benefitted from the PJRM, which includes various models such as in-premises, mobile, market, campus and open spaces.

He said that a total sales value of RM1,297,766 had been recorded, with goods offered at prices 10 to 30 per cent cheaper compared to regular sales.

The implementation of PJRM in Terengganu continues to be strengthened through the addition of strategic partners and operators to expand community access to essential goods at more affordable prices.

"This year, a total of 16 new operators have joined the PJRM, including six in Setiu or Besut; Kemaman (five operators); Hulu Terengganu or Marang (three operators); Kuala Nerus (one operator); and Dungun (one operator), bringing the total to 98 operators in the state.

"There are still about 100 series of PJRM that will be carried out throughout the state until December. For the future, we will try to hold five PJRM sessions in a week as suggested by the Prime Minister," he said to reporters at the PJRM Malam Merdeka on the grounds of Masjid Seberang Takir here today.

Meanwhile, Mohd Mufsi said that three PJRM operators have been suspended temporarily for not adhering to the conditions and guidelines of the programme's implementation.

He said that among the detected offences were the submission of subsidy payment claims that were not in accordance with the documents and actual implementation records, as well as non-compliance with PJRM wholesale sales regulations, including the sale of goods exceeding the permitted quantity limit.

He said that the purchase limit in the implementation of PJRM is to ensure that the benefits of the subsidy can be enjoyed by as many users as possible, thereby achieving the programme's objectives.

"This operator will be suspended for approximately a month and cannot participate in any PJRM that we organise.

"KPDN will conduct a re-audit of the operators to assess the level of compliance and improvement actions. The results of the audit will serve as the basis for determining the company's eligibility to participate in PJRM in the future," he added.
