KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 31 (Bernama) -- The Embassy of Malaysia in Doha organised a flag-raising ceremony late Sunday , bringing together Malaysians in Qatar in a spirit of patriotism, unity and national pride to mark the National Day.
The embassy, in a statement on Monday, said the ceremony was also streamed online, enabling members of the Malaysian community across Qatar to follow and participate in the celebration virtually.
“The raising of the Jalur Gemilang, the Malaysian flag, symbolises the sovereignty, independence and shared identity of Malaysians, including those living and working overseas,” the statement read.
Malaysia’s Ambassador to Qatar Faizal Razali said the celebration was not only about remembering the country’s history, but also to reflect on the values that continue to unite Malaysians.
“We (the embassy) hope this celebration will further strengthen our sense of togetherness and our friendship with Qatar,” he said.
The embassy, in cooperation with the Malaysian Association in Qatar (MAQ) and the wider Malaysian community in Qatar, organised a series of programmes from August to September to commemorate the National Day and Malaysia Day celebration, it added.
