HYDERABAD, Aug 30 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's visit to Malaysia in June has further strengthened Bangladesh-Malaysia ties, Bangladesh's Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Mohammad Sakhawat Hossain said.
Speaking at an event organised by the Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Dhaka on Saturday evening, he emphasised that the bilateral relationship was rooted in mutual trust.
A key feature of this relationship was close interaction between Bangladeshi and Malaysian business communities, the minister said and called for broader economic cooperation.
"Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's recent visit to Malaysia has further strengthened the existing friendly relations between the two countries," he said, according to a Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha report.
Sakhawat urged Malaysia to increase imports from Bangladesh.
Malaysian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Mohd Shuhuda Othman and Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) administrator Mohammad Fazlul Haque were present at the Dhaka event titled "Towards a Stronger Bangladesh-Malaysia Partnership".
