SERDANG, Aug 29 (Bernama) -- Exhibition Hall A at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) reopened to visitors this afternoon after being temporarily closed following an incident involving smoke and an unpleasant odor.
The MAHA 2026 Organising Committee stated in a release that the incident, which occurred at 4:50 pm earlier today, was brought under control. Inspections by the Malaysian Fire and Department (JBPM) alongside the site security management team confirmed that there were no ongoing safety threats.
"The organisers would like to emphasise that the technical incident was resolved without any structural implications. No injuries, medical emergencies, or fatalities were reported. Exhibition Hall A has been certified safe and reopened for visitors with immediate effect," according to the statement today.
The committee explained that the earlier temporary evacuation of the hall was a standard preventive measure under the MAHA 2026 Safety Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to ensure the safety and comfort of visitors and exhibitors.
MAHA 2026 takes place from August 28 to September 6 at MAEPS, featuring around 2,000 exhibitors and targeting an attendance of over four million visitors.
