KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 28 (Bernama) -- Former national shuttlers Teo Kok Siang and Wong Pei Tty will rejoin the national coaching set-up on Sept 1, according to the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM).
In a statement today, BAM said Kok Siang has been appointed as a mixed doubles coach, while Pei Tty will take up the role of women’s doubles coach.
BAM said the appointments are part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen the national coaching structure and enhance player development and performance on the international stage.
“The return of both coaches brings valuable experience and familiarity with the national programme, having previously served in BAM’s coaching set-up,” the statement said.
Kok Siang spent five years coaching in BAM’s junior and senior doubles programmes before leaving the national body in 2022.
Pei Tty, a former world number one who represented Malaysia at the 2004 Athens and 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, served as a coach in BAM’s women’s doubles department before leaving in 2020.
Meanwhile, national doubles coaching director Rexy Mainaky said that BAM will announce the head of the mixed doubles department at a later date.
“We already have the name (mixed doubles head coach). The BAM media department will announce it,” he said.
