KANGAR, Aug 25 (Bernama) -- The Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, has urged mosque and surau committees in the state to uphold the trust placed in them with integrity, particularly in administrative matters, while consistently practising a systematic work culture.
Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra said all officers and mosque and surau committee members in the state must understand and adhere to the guidelines set by the Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs) and the Perlis Islamic Religious Affairs Department (JAIPs).
“This is to ensure that all community affairs are managed more efficiently and systematically, in accordance with Islamic law and state laws,” he said in a statement issued by Istana Arau today.
His Royal Highness said this when officiating the 2026 Perlis State Mosque and Surau Officers and Committees Multaqa Programme at Dewan 2020 here yesterday.
Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra said this year’s programme focused on three key matters closely related to the lives and affairs of the Muslim community, namely the Guidelines for the Management of Muslim Cemeteries in Perlis, Guidelines for the Mosque Management Division, and Procedures for Managing Marriages and the Role of Jurunikah (marriage officials) in Perlis.
The Raja Muda of Perlis expressed hope that the multaqa would serve as a platform to strengthen the governance of mosque and surau institutions statewide, particularly by promoting professional, transparent and integrity-driven management that remains responsive to the current needs of the community.
“In today’s increasingly challenging world, the community expects mosques not only to serve as places of worship, but also as institutions that are managed professionally, transparently and with integrity, while remaining responsive to the needs of the community,” he said.
Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra also described the multaqa as an important official platform for conveying the policies, guidelines and direction of the religious administration of the State of Perlis directly to those involved in the management of mosque and surau institutions.
He welcomed the expansion of this year’s multaqa to include surau committees, in recognition of the complementary roles of mosques and surau in serving the religious needs of the community.
“With this more comprehensive coordination, I hope that all state policies and regulations can be clearly understood and implemented consistently throughout Perlis,” he said.
