China Daily Asia-Pacific, Bernama Explore Closer Media Cooperation

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 24 (Bernama) -- Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) and China Daily are exploring broader media cooperation, including content and journalist exchanges, training programmes, and joint activities.

The potential areas of collaboration were discussed during a courtesy visit by China Daily Asia-Pacific Editor-in-Chief Lu Haoting to Bernama on Monday.

During the meeting, Lu said both sides could further strengthen cooperation through journalist exchanges and training programmes to enhance media professionals’ skills.

“Cooperation could also be expanded to business forums and cultural activities, broadening exchanges beyond traditional media collaboration,” she said.

Lu led a delegation comprising China Daily Asia-Pacific Assistant Editor-in-Chief Sheila Shi, Business Development Director Kenrick Lee, and Kuala Lumpur Bureau Chief Peng Chao.

The delegation was received by Bernama Editor-in-Chief Arul Rajoo Durar Raj, Deputy Editor-in-Chief (News Service) Mohd Shukri Ishak, Acting Deputy Editor-in-Chief (Economic News Service) Harlina Samson, and other senior officials.

Arul Rajoo shared Bernama’s experience in working with Chinese media organisations, including in news and content exchanges as well as joint documentary productions.

He said the existing engagement with Chinese media could pave the way for closer cooperation with China Daily’s Asia-Pacific Bureau in content and personnel exchanges, joint programmes, cultural activities, and media training.

China Daily Asia-Pacific Bureau is part of China Daily’s international news network covering political, economic, social, and cultural developments across the region.
