Timah Tasoh Dam Water Level Improves, Exits Critical Range

22/08/2026 06:33 PM

KANGAR, Aug 22 (Bernama) -- The water level at the Timah Tasoh Dam in Perlis here showed  improvement today, recording a reading of 26.50 metres (m).

State Department of Irrigation and Drainage (JPS) director Amir Budiman Abdullah said the situation was better than last month as 26.50m is the minimum level for the dam to move out of the critical range.

He said the water level at the dam had been rising since the beginning of August following heavy rainfall in several catchment areas.

"However, this situation may not last as dry weather conditions, namely Super El Nino, are expected to occur in November,” he said in a brief statement to Bernama today.

As such, Amir Budiman said cloud seeding operations, through the state government, should continue as a mitigation measure to address the issue of water shortages at the dam.
