KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 22 (Bernama) -- A strong 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck the Scotia Sea at 4.22 pm today.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) in a statement said the quake was centred at 60.3 degrees South and 47.5 degrees West, 2,712 kilometres southeast of Puerto Montt, Chile.
The temblor occurred at a depth of 10 kilometres.
MetMalaysia said there is no tsunami threat to Malaysia following the quake.
