SHAH ALAM, Aug 21 (Bernama) -- The Selangor government will review and enhance the Second Selangor Plan (RS-2) within two years to keep the state’s development planning aligned with current needs.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the review will take into account the latest findings, including structural changes as well as additional programmes and projects to be outlined in RS-2.
“Based on our experience with the First Selangor Plan (RS-1) and examining its success, we also learned that there are several aspects we need to rectify, including expediting the monitoring framework.
“Besides that, we also need to promptly implement planning for projects at the ground level, while engaging in discussions with several financial institutions to serve as facilitators for project financing,” he said.
He told reporters this after launching RS-2, an economic plan for 2026-2030 that outlines six missions across 25 focus areas. The plan targets an economic value of RM600 billion over the period.
Present were Selangor State Secretary Datuk Dr Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin and members of the Selangor State Executive Council.
Attending the event were editors from media agencies, including Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) Editor-in-Chief Arul Rajoo Durar Raj.
Amirudin said that following RS-1’s conclusion, 79 per cent of initiatives were successfully achieved and are in various implementation phases. The remainder will continue in RS-2, including projects under the Sabak Bernam Development Area (SABDA) and the Integrated Development Region in South Selangor (IDRISS).
He said the Selangor Plan (RS) can serve as a development model for the region because its approach differs from the Malaysia Plan. RS focuses more on plans at the state government-linked company, local authority, and district levels.
The six missions of RS-2 are Driving Selangor's Economic Leadership; Balanced Development and Equitable Opportunity Across Districts; Caring and Liveable State; Productive and Inclusive Human Capital; Sustainable, Resilient and Strategic State; as well as Effective, People- and Business-Friendly Government.
RS-2, which was tabled at the Selangor State Legislative Assembly sitting on Aug 7, also outlines five sectors that will be the focus towards 2030, namely electrical and electronics, aerospace, automotive, digital economy, and creative economy.
An engagement session between the Selangor Menteri Besar and media practitioners also took place today to explain the direction of RS-2.
