SEREMBAN, Aug 21 (Bernama) -- The Negeri Sembilan Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) captured a 500kg crocodile measuring 5.5 metres in Sungai Tanjung Agas, Sungai Linggi, today.
Its director, Wan Mat Wan Harun, said the female crocodile, estimated at 70 years old, was captured in a trap placed in the area two days ago.
“Perhilitan set a crocodile trap at the site on Wednesday following a report about the reptile in Tanjung Agas. At about 1.30 am today, a member of the public reported that the trap door had closed, indicating that the crocodile had entered it.
“The crocodile was successfully relocated to a site managed by Perhilitan at Paya Indah Wetlands in Dengkil, Selangor,” he told Bernama today.
He said the capture had reassured residents in Tanjung Agas, who had been concerned about the crocodile’s presence following an incident on May 25 in which retired police officer Jaafa Hasan, 62, was injured in a crocodile attack.
