KOTA BHARU, Aug 20 (Bernama) --The Kemubu Agricultural Development Authority (KADA) is converting the Kemubu 4 Pump’s wiring and control system from digital to analogue in a move to minimise operational disruptions.
Its chairman Khalid Abdul Samad said the work, being carried out by a contractor, was expected to be completed next week.
“The contractor is trying a different approach, using an analogue rather than a digital system. The conversion process is underway and, Insya-Allah, will be completed next week,” he told reporters after the launch of the KADA Independence Month and Flying the Jalur Gemilang 2026 (Malaysia MADANI: Kesejahteraan Dinikmati) campaign at the KADA headquarters here today.
Khalid said the previous digital system was more sensitive, causing communication between the control system and the pump to be frequently disrupted and affecting operations.
However, he said the Kemubu 4 Pump could still be operated if required during the system conversion work, with the current high river level helping to ensure a steady water supply.
In a related development, Khalid said piling work at Kemubu 3 was facing delays due to the hard bedrock conditions.
He said KADA was studying ways to expedite the work to ensure smooth operations at Kemubu 3.
“So far, we have relied heavily on Kemubu 2 and Kemubu 4, with Kemubu 4 currently undergoing a system conversion but still able to operate. Kemubu 1 can only be used when the river water level exceeds five metres,” he said.
Meanwhile, Khalid said there were no delays in fertiliser supplies for the first season of 2026, with the National Farmers’ Organisation (NAFAS) supplying the fertiliser according to the set schedule, quantity and specifications.
He said KADA would issue a tender in early September to procure fertiliser supplies for the second season of 2026, which is scheduled to begin in December.
