KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 19 (Bernama) -- Malaysian Chef de Mission to the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026, Datuk Mohd Sumali Reduan, will convene a meeting with all team managers tomorrow to ensure that the athletes’ needs, particularly dietary requirements, are thoroughly addressed ahead of the Games.

Sumali said the need to bring their own chef to Japan is among the matters to be discussed at the meeting, though the decision will depend on the specific needs of each sport.

"I will discuss this with the team managers during the meeting, including the nutritional aspects that need attention throughout our time there. We will first look at feedback from the team managers," he said when met during a visit to meet athletes here today.

Sumali added that the meeting with team managers is also important for briefing them and for identifying sports with medal potential for the national contingent.

Meanwhile, Sumali said visits to several training centres found the national athletes to be physically well-prepared, but stressed that their mental resilience must continue to be sharpened as the Games draw closer.

He said athletes in e-sports, weightlifting, swimming and diving appear to be training hard, while also working to manage the pressure.

He also reminded all athletes to avoid any last-minute injuries, as such setbacks could affect their performance during the Games.

The Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games are scheduled to take place from Sept 19 to Oct 4
