19/08/2026 06:27 PM

JAKARTA, Aug 19 (Bernama-Xinhua) -- Indonesia will reopen tourism activities in the Mount Bromo area in East Java province on Thursday after a forest and land fire was fully extinguished following a 13-day firefighting operation, the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park Office said on Wednesday, reported Xinhua.

"The reopening follows monitoring and an evaluation of conditions in the area, taking into account the safety of visitors and staff," said Rudijanta Tjahja Nugraha, head of the national park office.

Online ticket bookings reopened on Wednesday through the park's official website, with daily visitor numbers capped at 2,752.

Rudijanta said visitors must follow instructions from park staff and are prohibited from activities that could trigger fires, including lighting campfires and discarding cigarette butts or other flammable materials.

The national park office also urged visitors to immediately report any smoke, embers or other signs of fire to staff to help prevent further fires.
